the thing that sucks about the LA riots in ‘92 is that i didn’t get to participate. i don’t condone the brick reginald denny received to the face, but for serious, given the opportunity i would have looted the crap out of that bitch. i even had a strategy mapped out: go to the swapmeet.
LA swapmeets in the ’90’s were what america is supposed to be — the land of opportunity. it had everything a young capitalist could ever want. more than a place to buy and sell stolen goods, the swap meet was a community event and grounds for the launching of musical careers. you were nobody until your band had played the carson swap on sundays.
i don’t know what year dr. dre made this mix or what swap meet he was at, but i can guarantee it shaped his career.
