SXSW has been on our minds lately and although it looks like we won’t be able to send our usual squad of media professionals as we’d grown accustomed, MIXTAPEMIXTAPE!!! cannot recommend this festival enough.
It’s true, you do have to travel through the HEART OF TEXAS to reach Austin, which is an intimidating proposition but in the case of SXSW the juice is WORTH THE SQUEEZE. It is bar none the finest Indie and New Music festival around and you are bound to discover 20 new favorite artists whose name you might have heard of but whose music you never got around to.
BROTHER ALI fell into that category for us a couple years ago but after spending a night with him at EMO’S where he overshadowed straight murdered both EL-P and SLUG of Atmosphere, we’ve got to say we are HUGE HUGE FANS. But don’t take our word for it. See for yourselves:
